When you leave:
DO NOT LOOK BACK.
This rule is a staple of European crossroads sorcery and dealing with ghosts. In the case of the the Deipnon, Hekate will come for the meal in her ‘true form,’ and if you see it she will get pissed. Even if you worship her, it isn’t for your eyes.
Sometimes interacting with ghosts in those liminal spaces causes a breakdown in one’s ability to navigate. You lose all track of which direction you were in. Ancestral spirits, crossroads ghosts, and Hekate manifesting can cause this.
Just keep walking. Figure out where you are when you’ve gotten the hell out of the area. But DO NOT LOOK BACK FOR ANY REASON.
You are walking in the footsteps of Orpheus. Do not repeat the wonder-worker of Thrace’s mistake.
